Is it bad that I actually like this one? It actually seems like a legit throwback!

Or with no bar, how about this?

It actually turned out better IMO when I moved the bar up:
Maybe even good, which... what.

Woah...I mean...that’s like a perfect “future retro” design.

I don’t hate it.......which is a huge improvement over the current style.

And the thing is, if they need to make a sealed beam version for fleet use (which they probably don’t, but I’ve seen a sealed beam version of a quite new Ford) or for other markets, they’d only need to offer a different bumper cover. This puts the lights at the right height, emphasizes the grill size, cleans up the awkwardness of the lines... I was not expecting to come up with anything at all good and took this on as a troll, but you can see what happened.

Did you see what happens when I eliminate the cross-bar? In the other replies.
Edit: my bad, I see that you did.

I actually saw one of these not too long ago, you could hear the fan from a block away.

The hell of it is, I think doing this would make squarebody fans go apeshit. The all-grill thing is well-liked as an idea, if not as executed on the big C/K.
If the lights were in the bottom corners of the grill instead of the bumper, it would look like a base trim <‘82 grill upside-down.

It looks far better without the cross-bar, but even with it it’s better than what we got.

The one benefit of the crossbar is that it makes the primary rectangle of the grill about the same proportions as a squarebody’s whole grill area, while preserving something of the deliberate overstyling. I definitely think
it looks better clean, though.

IIRC on those older medium duty trucks, the “grille” was actually the radiator itself; the front of the hood just had a big hole. The heavier duty GMC Brigadier and Chevy Bruin were similar.

I actually like this a lot!!!

I didn’t even think of this, but I do love me some squarebody Chevy.
